DESHA is a non-profit, non-government organization established in 1986 with the aim of achieving the socio-economic upliftment of poor and landless people. Since its inception, the organization has been committed to working with marginalized communities to improve their quality of life. DESHA focuses on long-term development rather than short-term relief, believing in sustainable change driven by the people themselves.
A major emphasis of DESHAâs work is the institution building of the poor, with special attention given to distressed women, girls, and disadvantaged children. The organization strives to create opportunities that empower these groups socially, economically, and culturally. By addressing inequality and vulnerability, DESHA works to ensure that no one is left behind.
The main thrust of DESHAâs programs is to organize underprivileged people into groups so they can develop leadership skills and collective strength. Through this process, community members learn to manage, control, and lead their own development initiatives. They are encouraged to identify their problems independently and work together to find effective and lasting solutions.
Today, DESHA is a family of over 136,000 people who are passionate about bringing positive change and happiness to others. More than just a service-providing organization, DESHA is a supportive community built on trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility. Together, its members stand by one another and work with dedication to make a meaningful difference in the world.
